So how loud is 48dB?

So i bought this fan for my SLK-800A: http://www.bestbyte.net/Product.cfm?ProductID=884&CategoryID=8&Keyword= because its blows MAD air at that high setting, but im wondering how loud 48dB really is.

thats going to be fairly loud, but it depends on what else you have in your case (ie: hard drives, chipset cooler, case fans) so if all that is loud you won't notice.

hahahhaa are you joking me?

48dB is SOOOOOOo loud

Venator 06-21-2003 01:18 PM

yeah, but its only 48dB when its blowing like 78CFM.

still like 6 dB less than the tornado

yeah i googled and it said its like 24 on this one site. hell i bet the AMD stock 60mm blows that. and it only spins at 1900 RPM.

ninja the fan i got (linked above) is only 17dB at 1300RPM so thats not bad.

i just need a fan to blow a lot of air on the slk-800a so i can OC the 1700+ way up there.

(hoping to get 2300Mhz on a kx7-333r)

48 db is twice as load as 45db :P, but if it is too loud, get a panflow, or 7volt your fan.

your ears will hate you

Venator 06-21-2003 02:32 PM

that bad huh?

k1114 06-21-2003 02:46 PM

My cpu fan is 44cfm/~31dba, I wouldnt' go much louder then that. Anything past the mid 30's and you'r gonna hear it all the time.

Venator 06-21-2003 02:51 PM

im not worried about hearing it. i can hear the 3 80mm fans that are in there now but they arent loud. i mean if i go into another room say 10 feet away am i gonna be able to hear it loud and clear.

im not the kind of person that DEMANDS quiet at all. i dont really care if i can hear the thing, i juist dont want it to literally sound like a hair dryer.

and is the [H] down for anyone else?

Special K 06-21-2003 02:55 PM

in another room 10 feet away i gaurantee you will be able to hear a 48 db fan. I could hear my Sunon 39 db fan from 2 rooms away. I got a SLK-900u and threw on a 35 db Delta 92 mm and now I can only hear it if i am at the computer.

To overclock a 1700+ you really dont need a beast of a fan. I'm pushing 51 CFM with my fan and I am sitting at 200x11 right now, and thats not even pushing the proc. I think 210x11.5 might be attainable

edit: yep [H] is down

Venator 06-21-2003 03:01 PM

you think ill be able to get 200+ FSB out of 2700 crucial?
