In actuality, it's probably better that they don't - for the moment, news sources are only reporting that his publicist says it's a hoax, but aren't explicitly confirming it to be untrue.

If it was reported that it was spurred by General Mayhem, it'd be confirmed a hoax and teh funny would be over already.
