My new paint job looks milky? (advice needed)

So this is for anyone who has some body work experience.

I recently painted the plastics on my motorcycle (went down, destroyed my front fairing and tank, so i painted everything). I painted them black, but the color has come out a bit milky and im not sure what to do. Im using a turtle wax polishing compound and hand polishing after sanding down the Clear coat.

any advice? I don't have the exact list of paint, clear, and polishing compound but I can get them if you feel they are needed to better assist.

Sounds like water contamination from wet/oily air coming into the gun.

ill see if I can grab some pics of it when I get home. Its possible its water contamination, this was painted on a garage floor with a cheap cheap spray gun.

on the clear i went from 800 to 1500 to 2000. I let the 800 do most of the work sanding it down till I didn't see any more shiny spots. After that i hit it briefly with the 1500 and then the 2000. Pics to follow shortly.

by and large i followed these directions

The pictures aren't showing the milkyness of the paint, so i wont be able to get any pics up. Im using a Turtle Wax Polishing compound ontop of the clear, any recommendations for other things to trying instead?

You're hand rubbing it? Thats probably the problem. Urethane paint is nearly impossible to hand rub. Its too late now, but 800 is way too coarse. You may want to go over it more with 2000.

I went light on the 800, got "most" of the clear sanded, and then switched to the 1500. There are some spots on the plastics that look pretty good. Should I get a buffer that attaches to the average household drill and see if that polishes up nicely?

don't spend money on things that you will probably make it look worse with.... spend the same money on someone who knows what they are doing and has the proper tools. You will be much happier, I promise.
