i market myself as natural candid photographer with little editing. and i make a big effort to try and get everything right out of camera so there's no cropping and many adjustments later on. i do all the editing in LR and don't ever open PS so saves a lot of time there. basically i do a batch of the entire set (contrast, tones, sharpening, blacks) and then spend about 3-5 seconds on each photo to make sure exposure and WB is good enough. I don't spend too much on perfect colour management as the client doesn't care about that, they just want sharp, nice pics with emotion and feeling. this is a typical wedding day shoot and what's presented to the client (they paid for a second photographer so the number of images presented is doubled). http://www.lumensphotography.com/Wed...36758121_uEa25 password = jdgibbs

3-5 hours is fair, especially since you aren't tweaking the color very much - I find getting skin tones right takes the longest, but you don't seem too concerned about this. If you have to spend more than, say, 10 hours on a wedding, you might as well just outsource it to somebody who can do it quicker and better. |

methd, just a few questions:
On certain indoor shots (say page 22-25) are you using bounce flash or just cranking the ISO? And also what are you settings commonly for the kind of situation? The aquarium pictures are so great. It's like, "SUP, I'M A SHARK BUT I'M WITH THE GROOM, DON'T HATE ON ME"

hey. i used a flash but i think i bounced it backwards just for a light fill. indoors during the day would normally be something like ISO200-1600, F2.0-4, min 1/80 depending on how much ambient light there is. i'll use a flash if needed but will also push iso to 3200 ish if the ambient sits nice on their face as well.

Sweet. And what kind of lighting did you use for the formals on pages 21-22? How often during this particular wedding did you use off-camera lighting, if at all?
Thanks for letting us into one of your galleries, you are always an inspiration ![]()

after the photos are edited, that's pretty much it. i burn all the images to DVD and send it to them as is. If their package involved making a book/album then I get them to select images and we go from there. http://www.lumensphotography.com/Wed.../4327303_oQtmi
