this may be a dumb question, but on the EGR - do many people just remove them? like how some people remove cat-converters? or is that a big no no?
as I said, may be a dumb question. we don't really have them in AU (as far as I know), and obviously if they do more than just force inert exhaust gas into the combustion chamber to lower omissions then it's a pointless question.

People cap them and keep the solenoid if they need to pass OBD2.
Otherwise people pass OBD1 sniff tests without any EGR system. Cat converters are going to be needed in OBD1 sniff tests, but you can pass OBD2 without if you install a O2 sim for the rear cat.

Quote:
newer engines don't use an EGR system in the traditional sense, all the recirculation is done through valve overlap I believe... so it's possible to pass with any engine and no EGR, aside from electronic system warnings and depending on the timing and configuration of the engine. Quote:
Exactly. By the way I'm not stoked about smog per se, but I realize we need it with the number of people around here. in that sense I am glad we have it. They do need to make some changes though, like your tailpipe emossions should be the final say in pass or not. All this sticker and approval mumbo jumbo is nonsense.
