exploding accessory belts

74k on the clock, and while driving back from lunch a bunch of lights in the dash light up and I lose power steering.

Opened the hood and found that my alternator and p/s belt looked like it was shredded. The A/C belt didn't look too good either.

Both the alternator and p/s pulleys spun freely so I'm pretty sure it was just...age or dry-rot that killed the belts.

Limped it to the local Autozone with no alternator or power steering and fixed it in the parking lot.

ONTO THE PICS!

They're built in China, to last! Or, at least to give you lead poisoning, should you ever happen to lick them.

My belt was going out on the truck, had at least that many miles on it. I bought a new one from O'Reillys and installed it. About 15k later it just shredded. Installed the old one and ran it for another 30k or so.

Posting goatse from my phone, damn it's cool to be in the future

At least it wasn't like the last one I saw that exploded. Power steering pump spit the pulley out the front on my buddies jeep. That was kind of messy.
