So I installed Trillian to see what I was missing...

...and went on to register an AIM and MSN account. Now, being a fan of PC games I decided to join a chat room with this being the main theme. Gaming chat was listed as one of the official chat rooms on AIM so I joined expecting a certain degree of immaturity and L337-Sp34k, but nothing outrageous.

Here's a sample of what awaited me:

Well... ok. I was disillusioned at first but it appeared that there were one or two REAL people in the room. One individual with a fairly inoccuous name piped up asking if there was anyone real still inhabiting the room. I started a convo with him and this is what I got:

[22:53] Parker Apollo: And I did this when I was about 13-15
[22:53] Me: Well what do you roleplay as now?
[22:54] Parker Apollo: Depends on who I'm rp'ing with. I'm open to a lot of different things.

[22:56] Parker Apollo: I don't recall.
[22:56] Parker Apollo: Because I haven't done it much.
[22:56] Me: Well what's the last that you remember?
[22:58] Parker Apollo: Mmmmm... ::thinks::.. prob'ly Parker Apollo (character from a story I wrote) ooor maybe Kairu Chaplain.

Frankly, I felt that my life and the lives of everyone close to me were at risk and that I should uninstall Trillian, write zeroes onto my hard-drive at least 30 times and burn my PC in a really really big fire.

It's not so much about Trillian as it's about the evil demons that inhabit the chat rooms that Trillian gives access to. The evil demons that gorge themselves on the souls of the innocent and roleplay Sailor Moon characters on weekends.
