So I'm sitting here spamming, my daughter is finishing supper, and the smoke alarm goes off. WTF? I'm not cooking anything. Wander around the apartment, I smell some smoke, but it doesn't seem to be coming from my place. Stick my head out the door into the hallway, it's full of smoke.
Fuck Grab the kid, her coat, and my purse & keys and go out the door. This is when I start to hear sirens. Since my hallway was full of smoke, I decided to go through the fire door to the other half of the hallway. Wow. That one is also full of smoke. Fuck Continue on. My 6 months pregnant ass carrying a scared 5 year old little girl. Go outside in my slippers. There's a bunch of fire trucks & cop cars. Talk to the apartment managers. They live on the 1st floor and didn't know what the fuck was going on. I let them know it was on my floor. (The top one.) Their puppy calmed Lita down and we talked about how it was just like the fire drills at school. And see the firemen in full gear. They're going to make it all better. It's January in South Dakota so I stuck her in the car and turned on the heater. I think "lol I should take pics for a thread". Then realize the camera that is always kept in my purse is still hooked up to the computer because I had just taken pics for some other lame ass thread I was about to make.  Fuck So we sit there and talk until the firemen let us back in. Lita is so sweet and said thank you to the firemen & the cop. We come upstairs and I get her settled back in. Then I take some shitty pics from my balcony. There was only 1 fire truck left at that point.     I don't know yet which apartment the fire was in. And I just realized my arms really fucking hurt. I haven't carried her in a long time, let alone ran with her. Didn't even think about it at the time. and honestly, thank G-d for smoke alarms. it would have been a while longer before I would have noticed the smell on my own. Cliffs: 1. My apartment building caught fire. 2. Fuck. OMG. Scared. 3. Left camera upstairs. 4. Everybody's ok. 5. Profit. 6. I'm sending cookies to the guys at the local fire department. This is the reason you ALWAYS buy apartment insurance. Your whole life is in that apartment. It burns and you have your car and your clothes on your back thats it. I know someone who lost their place and no insurance. They lost fucking everything.
