New school year, new place. (PICS)

I recently moved into my new house in Santa Barbara, where I am living with three other people inside the house, and another in the guest cottage out back. Believe it or not, this place was built in 1978 (though it has the eccentricity and disrepair of a place built 100 years before that). Rent is $2600 for the main 3-bedroom house, $900 for the guest cottage. I am slowly learning to make peace with spiders and skunks, and to sleep under three blankets because my room is so goddamn drafty.

This is my room. It's not extremely big, but it would seem a lot bigger if it weren't for the load-bearing pillar in the middle.

My closet. The thing on the far right is a secret storage space in the wall, and inside my closet there are faucets, as it used to house the washer and dryer.

The house from outside. This is after climbing a good number of steps and braving a harrowing path full of spiders.

The deck. You can't see in this photo, but it's covered with various moving in debris like boxes and styrofoam.

The messy messy living room.

Master bedroom, kind of (it shares a bathroom with the other upstairs bedroom).

bthorton's future room. He's not moving in until next Monday, so we have boobytrapped it with feathers and molasses!

The kitchen, which is in a sad state of disarray because the faucet is really leaky. We have a plumber coming later today.

Finally, this is my lovely bathroom with a really creepy painting hiding a huge hole in the wall.

Like I said, it's in pretty awful shape. The kitchen floor was flooded this morning, and the washer and dryer are outside in a sort of dumpster holder thing (and also not really working). Damn, where are all of the "OMG LOL CALIFORNIA EXPENSIVE" and "WHAT A SHITBOX" posts?
