Okay everyone, it's the 10th. Who finished the book? I might be posting this too early in the day but it can always be bumped. Rage2132 can't make the thread because of the move so I stepped in.
The book we decided to read was The Stranger by Albert Camus.
What were other peoples thoughts about this book? I'm not really good at starting these kind of discussions so I'll just put down a few thoughts off the top of my head to get the ball rolling.

I really, really liked this book. I picked it up at work Saturday and I couldnt put it down. Mersault is a fascinating character and I loved the way the narration went.
I really liked the court scenes and the way the justice system was portrayed. Camus is really a brilliant author, and the Matthew Ward translation was excellant.

So people what did you think about the book?

It's in French North Africa in the 30s (?), an ordinary man through a chain of events gets involved in a crime organization and kills someone. He's put on trial and sentenced to death....that's the book in a nutshell.

A very small nutshell, alot of the book is on "the nature of justice" I believe someone said in the old thread.

I like the way Mersault's honesty kidna puts in him rough spots, awesome read.

I read the book. I thought Mersault was pretty interesting as a character. I kind of like him, because in a way, he is what i think alot of people want to be like. To be able to just not be bothered by shit. Drama didnt really affect him, nothing did, he just didnt give a shit.

The end got kind of drawn out, but overall it was a quick read and a decent book.
