"blue balls"
does anyone know the science behind it, mainly why it hurts?

It's all in your head.
I experienced blue balls once, and it wasn't anything that bad. Wanking it fixed everything too. Every other time (and there's been many times, sadly) that I don't get "satisfied", I've never gotten blue balls. Suck it up and go fap.  |

guys and girls both can get blue balls. It's different for girls, has to do with blood tension not yet released by orgasm, and for guys well, it's probably both semen and blood needing to be released.
with my current gf, she doesn't let me get blue balls, only the opposite  |

yolo's right, it's vascular pressure and tension, and it's not in your head. it is physiological and it can be excrutiating, but it should never be used as leverage

Man, the first 2 or 3 times it happened to me, I didn't know why or what it was. I thought something was wrong with me. I think I found the solution just browsing through a random topic in the bc actually. Thank God I did, oh man, I could hardly walk.
