virtualdub help - audio is out of sync
I have a full length television show and I only want the musical guest's performance at the end. When I open it in virtual dub I get a message that says AVI: Variable bitrate (VBR) audio detected. VBR audio in AVI is non-standard and you may encounter sync errors up to 24433ms when attempting to extract WAV files or processing the audio in Direct Stream Copy mode. Full Processing mode is recommended to decompress or recompress the audio. (bitrate: 133.9 +- 19.4kbps). I click OK for that message then I delete the entire show up to the point where the band comes on. Then I go up to video -> compression -> and choose the DivX 6.4.0 codec. Then I go to File -> Save as AVI and let it do its thing. When I go to play the video, the first few seconds are in sync, then it chirps and the audio is off sync for the remainder of the performance. I have it in full processing mode as well. What do I need to do to fix this or is it even something that can be fixed?
Thanks for any help. |

Try nandub.

actually it's an easy fix, you just have to select full processing for audio in virtualdub, it makes a larger file but the sound stayed in sync.

Couple things you can try, you can do full audio processing mode, but if you do that select a form of compression like mp3 (among many other formats) or else it will leave it uncompressed and be larger then most people like.
You can also try going to video->Frame Rate and selecting change so video and audio durations match. If neither of thoes work I would recompress the audio for the whole show either matching the audio and video or not, see which works best. After doing that delete the parts you don't want and try that. This way will take a little more time but might give the best results. Also you really shouldn't have to compress the video, unless you are doing this from raw capped tv shows, meaning you capped them yourself, the video compression it is currently usingg should be fine and you can do just a direct stream video copy. EDIT: I should really read the rest of the thread before i type all that out only to see you solved the problem. |

I guess I incorrectly assumed you already tried that.
