What do you eat for breakfast?


Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I skip it very very rarely, almost never. I was raised always having breakfast. I also have a slight chemical imbalance when I dont eat in the morning, and if I dont eat im irritable and will eat someone for looking at me the wrong way.

Im running out of things to eat in the morning, and eating the same thing over and over gets very sickening. Being Russian we have our own ideas of whats for breakfast, and thats not always the smartest things to eat in the morning and often are difficult to prepare. Example, in Russia a typical breakfast would be potatoes, herring, tomatoes, and toast with other misc stuff. Cant make potatoes in the morning, and the breakfast takes long to make. Sometimes even Borscht, or other types of soups.

Living the fast pased American life for the past 16 years has forced us to make changes and make breakfast faster, sometimes smaller.

Today for breakfasts, I can have the following:

Eggs
Cereal
Farina/Oatmeal
Bread with balogna, tomatoe, melted cheese
Eggos with Cottage cheese
French toast w/wo cheese
Lox, Cream cheese, + wheat bagel - yes im a Jew. I dont eat this to often because thats a lot of carbs very early. 1 bagel is like 5 slices of bread.

Kinda skimpy, I often get to work only to be hungary an hour later.

I know that the majority of Americans skip breakfast, its like taboo for you to have breakfast. Coffee does not count as breakfast.

But those Americans that do have breakfast, what do you have for breakfast?

You're going to retch, but I drink a soy protein shake mix. Chocolate flavoured.
It's incredibly gooey and doesn't really taste like chocolate, but I love it.

Edit: and most of the time Cheerios.

i don't usually eat breakfast. i'm not hungry in the mornings.
yes, i know its not good to skip it.

I had a bagel and banana yogurt.

Some mornings I have eggs. Other cereal, such as Cheerios or Raisin Bran.

I'm not recommending this but since you asked:

Three small pancakes with about two teaspoons of syrup and one pad of butter
3/4 cup of grapes
1 medium bananna
1 mandarin orange
1 glass of orange juice

I'm sure that's not the healthiest breakfast out there, but compared to the breakfast I used to eat with three pieces of bacon, toast drenched in butter and a soft drink, it's an improvement at least as far as I'm concerned, and even if I have to be fat I'm never going to eat oatmeal without sugar and sugar free jelly on toast...

Fuck it...

I have protein shakes in the morning only after days I work out.

I was hoping you guys would give me a list of things you eat, not what you ate this morning.

Eggs - over easy
Sausage links or patties/Bacon
Hash browns with cheese (drool)
Biscuits and gravy
cereal - honey bunches of oats
oatmeal once in a while with brown sugar made with 2% milk - thickness ftw
Fruit pie, basically frozen fruit in a glazed pie crust
Omelette's are always good and you can put whatever in them

For people who eat the protein shakes, what kind do you get? I never eat breakfast either and I know its not good to skip it, but I just never know what kind of shakes to buy. I for sure dont want a weight gain or anything, just something simple to take the place of a meal.

These people are, I imagine, are drinking the same shakes they drink after a workout. Probably whey with a complex carb. I dont think they are good to drink in the morning if you are not working out, its fast absorbing protein and if you dont use it, its gonna make you gain weight.

Try buckwheat kasha, its healthy, filling, and pretty tasty.
Also, check out kefir... but be aware that it is an acquired taste.

for breakfast I have a bowl of whatever healthful cereal I bought, or a bowl of oatmeal, or some eggs. usually I don't have that much, since I eat again around 10
