Wind and road noise reduction

My 01 corolla naturally has some wind and road noise since it's not luxury car at all. I was wondering if anybody has had any luck with dynomat. Ive been looking at there website and wondering if it is really worth it. any advice?

yes, good sound deadening makes a world of difference in quieting down a car, ANY car.. some cars require more effort than others naturally, but all cars can benefit from extra sound deadening when properly applied.

through the use of dense deadening materials and thick insulation, you can make a dramatic difference in road noise. wind noise is a little tougher - you're going to have to work on your weatherstripping/window seals for that, but road noise can be deadened fairly easily.

before you care to tear up your carpet and interior panels to apply dynomat or other sound-deadning things, take a look at your tires.

least labor intensive thing you could do. tires can make a lot of difference in the road noise dept.

my car has fairly quiet tires, but I've ridden in some cars with loud as fuck tires and it certainly gets irritating. of course, I have quite a bit of wind noise.

I have 3 month old tires. Before I got them new, They were really bad. They only had 27000 miles on them too. The new ones have 7500 miles and they are fine tread wise. When I got new tires, they didn't seem to make a difference to me at all. I do plan to get some dynomat and tear up the interior to put it down. I would love to get behind the dash, but that seems like way to much work for a novice like me.

Is dynomat good stuff or is there a better brand that anybody knows of?

the brand of tires and how they have been treated matters a lot too, not just how many miles are on them. do you notice much noise from them?

It will take a weekend and $100-200 in materials.

Go to home depot and buy several rolls of frost king, also buy contact cement in a spray can, and a small roller.

Remove all the interior from the car (door panels too).
Cover everything in a layer of frost king, pay close attention to inside the doors and the floors. Also apply a layer to the roof if you can.

Another important place to put frost king is on the wheel wells and liners.

Get some new speakers?

I honestly wouldnt spend a bunch of money making my car silent on the inside, who wants to drive in silence anyway..

But thats just my opinion.

My tires give me a whole bunch of road noise.

As of speakers, I have 4X 2 way pioneers with a pioneer headunit and a kenwood amp. My sound quality is fine. But the wind noise is what really gets me. I plan to wait till spring or summer to do this. but I really hope this will help. How hard is it to take of your carpet and cieling?

is the effectiveness of sound deadening directly related to its weight?

yeah, but are the heavier sound deadeners always more effective because theyre heavier? or is there a super deadener of sorts?
