Out with the old, in with the new (v. Bad Luck part II)
So.
The BMW is gone.  The Golf is gone. The Jeep is gone too. In their place comes the 2007 Ford Motherfucking Taurus.  Wait, can you even buy a 2007 Ford Taurus? Nope. You can rent one. Or, you can get one as a company car like I did.  Don't get me wrong, I'm trying not to look a gift horse in the mouth. I was supposed to get a brand new Fusion with the 222 horsepower Duratec. That would have been ok. Well, someone in my company had this Taurus and quit just before I transferred back to the US. He turned his car back in, and I was next in line to get a company car. My wife said I should have shoved the car into the burning condo last week to get the Fusion, but I digress...  Crappy cell phone pics because the wouldn't scratch my ass for it, let alone take out my SLR to take pics of it.     On the good side, I just bought a new (used) car for my wife. I found a great deal on a Saab 9-2x Aero wagon. It's 227 hp (Turbo'd WRX engine), AWD, 5-speed manual, etc etc. It's in decent shape, has a full warranty (More on that later), I negotiated a sweet price, and I negotiated brand new Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires. To be honest, it's a sweet car. She's going to like it, and she's going to want to mod it. I made the deal over the phone because the car is a few hours away from me. Anyway, a weekend ago (just before the fire) my wife and I drive out to pick the car up. We both take the car for a test drive and approve. It handles nicely. The power is nothing to write home about. My wife used to have a 300+ horsepower WRX, so she knows a thing or two about these cars. We sign the papers, hand over the $$$ and get on our way. Long story short, the car throws a rod 20 minutes later while on cruise control at 75 mph. WTF. We hitch a ride back to the dealership with some rednecks we flag down. The dealership sends a tow truck to pick the car up. The dealership felt terrible and is actually taking good care of us. We're getting a new clutch/new longblock, extended warranty, rental car in the meantime, and the car delivered back to our door next week. So, what started as a PITA and bad luck will probably work in our favor. I'm looking forward to throwing some snow tires on the car and thrashing it this winter. what does the taurus have, the 3.0l vulcan? They came with a 3.0l duratec also but that looks like a lower model I'm guessing?
Really sucks about your Saab, but its a good thing the dealer is taking great care of you!
