So tell me what you guys think, what I could do to make it better, etc...

Edit: Also, does my motherboard and cpu work together? I haven't been up to date on the intel core 2 duo chips, but from what I see they should work.

What case & power supply do you recommend that isn't top of the line expensive? I'm guessing that everything else is good?

How much are you willing to spend? I would look into a Seasonic for a PSU although Corsair is a good alternative as they use rebadged Corsair units. I'd recommend the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139001 at $115 and 520 watts... a little pricey, but reliable, and gauranteed to last you through future upgrades.

Maybe consider the X1950 XT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102067 at $169 and being much faster (by almost a third) than the X1950 Pro you selected, too.

I'll throw my hat in the ring for a Seasonic power supply ... they're bitchin' quiet and run damn well

this is a good weekend deal with free shipping on a great case/psu combo
and it has white drive covers so your black DVD burner won't matter
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129166

you might also get the SATA version of that burner
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151141

that zalman heatsink is OK, this one is a lot better
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185038

I'll also vote for the X1950XT for $20 more, you get a lot for that $20
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102067

and of course drop that 80mm fan and get a of low speed 92mm one like this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185031

otherwise looks fine

Cheaper with a good PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129012

You want to avoid the SmartPowers.

That PSU would probably suffice with that setup. As long as he didn't try and drop an 8800GTX in there, it would be fine.

its not very hard to put a PSU into a case, you dont have to get them together

anyway, i personally recommend an aluminum case. i always make this recommendation, and ive been thanked for it
