Anyone here play Star Wars: Galaxies?

I'm really really into Star wars, and I love wow. It seems like this game should be perfect... yet I hear lots of negative things about it. Can anyone give me some info?

It's not Star Wars.

It's an MMO with Star Wars textures.

I don't recall motherfucking Han Solo grinding on fucking rats if you get my meaning.

Anyway it was fun at the beginning, lots of Genmayers played and it was great getting together and trying to take out Krayts with our n00b asses. But eventually SOE kept changing the gameplay, adding jedi, nerfing classes, and generally making the game less fun and more generic.

This is why the devs offered to pay in game money to people willing to go around and demolish player houses...because so many left that they just sit there abandoned.

Also the customer support was shit.

Now it's an uber-simplistic Everquest clone. With Jedi everywhere.

Although I could be wrong, been a long time since I played.

That's all folks!

Let's turn this into a "Oh man I remember SWG!" thread.

I remember when you [M] fags sucked Enotts dick 24/7!

I did too, but at least I got free weapons/armor/houses/credits out of it.

I remember when Fury opened up shop right next to Enott's and everyone was like 'lol Enott's gonna get owned'

then he didn't.

I wouldn't be suprised if Enott was his own competitor. He had at least 3 known accounts and the guy he talked to/played with had at least 3 too(the second richest, he had all his shit on Dantooine). He was online ALL THE FUCKING TIME. Stock-broker fag who sat around doing nothing all day while his money was making money.

And before you start the "how could he have resources to be his own competitor?!" , please understand that he had heavy resources extractors (don't remember their names) for every single character attached to TR in some way. TR members had their friends/schoolmates/workmates placing those shits in every corner of the god damn galaxy.

If you really want to try it do the 14-day trial and form your own opinion. Other than that you can wait till they finish SWG emu which will probably be when hell freezes over.

I played it at release and it was an interesting game, though I've probably heard the same attacks on its current state that you have: class nerfs, fucked-up new combat system, severe gameplay changes, turning insta-Jedi mode on, etc.

SOE: "If it ain't broke, break it, then try to fix it and fuck it up more. Regardless, continue collecting money."

From release, the game was okay. It got better as time went on. They added the space expansion, which really wasn't very good, but it got improved a little bit. Then they changed the combat system which pissed off a lot of people and really made the game less fun. Then they completely destroyed the original game and released the new game engine (think Consolized). Everyone but a few die hard fans left. They slowly started to realize that they made a mistake, but it was too late. So now they're tweaking the game to return some of the fun to it. They've added Expertise points (basically talent points) that let you customize your character a bit. It will never EVER be as good as it was before the Combat Upgrade. But it's not as terrible as everyone is making it out to be. At least not any more. If you never played it before, you won't notice so much now how different it is and will probably enjoy it. Just don't expect a masterpiece game that will keep your attention for years. Download the trial and try it yourself.

I just restarted it to pass the time a few weeks ago. The complete game (original, plus all three expansions) is only $20, and you get a free month. Most people spend that much on dinner one night.

SWG is horrible. Was fun before the CU. Was not-quite-horrible before the NGE.

I had 4 accounts by the time I quit playing and made the best armor on bloodfin bar-none pre-CU. You'd never find a better unsliced chest than this, it used an early-spawn lokian wooly hide, accessible only through resource crates, It never did get logged on any of the crafting sites (swgcraft ect) I found it one day while using a resource crate to check every organic resource ever spawned.
"Wodoe" Lokian Wooly Hide: Malleability 943 Overall Quality 978 Shock Resistance 970 Unit Toughness 443

AIS, I was one of your best customers. I remember dropping >20mil/week on fucking armor from you. Then you disappeared and Greyskull came along, he was my new armor guy.

Anyone remember Roi, I spent even more on him holy shit.

Krayt hunting was fucking wicked, my friend was a MRifle/MDoc I was MSword/TKM/MBrawler. Good times.

I also was in Dread for the longest damn time, I remember allt he drama and grief that everyone cause. It was good times, I never held a grudge against clone campers or anything, I just thought it was part of the game and did it back the next chance I got. It was so easy to fall into ACTUAL roleplaying with the whole Rebels/Imps thing, it made it so much more fun. AND the fact that you could switch factions so fast, and cause more drama or grief. Anyone remember the whole VoD/Dread Levarris Hawk shit? That was NUTS! Although I think by that time it had changed into that other guild. Can't remember what they called it. I was in it, and was almost a council, but I stopped playing for a bit.

Then we took over some town on Lok, I renamed it Mos Freyr, started a FiSH guild, and made a shit ton of money. Good times.

to be honest, setting is the most important thing to me in an MMORPG. it holds my attention more than the game itself

I was around and making armor right up until the CU changed all the resource requirements. After that I left. Wasn't worth it anymore, years of harvesting and hoarding server best resources, undone with a single patch.

I saw some of Roi's stuff but my main WS was Czar. I was a MSword for a while, then switched over to MRifle/Doc when I happened into a couple of nice rifles. (863dmg T21, 454dmg Jawa, 1005dmg DXR-6b all pup'd but with adks who cares).
I set a friend (Msword/MDoc) up with my old hammer and we did quite a bit of Krayt hunting.

I lost my rifle pics, and a ton of swg pics in general when my old 200gb drive died a few months ago, but I do still have a pic of the hammer.
