Windows tries to use VPN as internet gateway when VPN active
I'm trying to set up a VPN between my bosses' machines through Windows own VPN client.
It works fine, but whenever I connect to the VPN server, the client-side machine tried to route internet through the VPN connection instead of the LAN adapter connection. It's weird, because the VPN works....so I must still have an active internet connection....and yet nothing else will work properly over the net. Browser, etc. What the heck? how to fix?

In the advanced TCP/IP properties of the VPN connection, uncheck the option to use the default gateway on the remote network.

Doing so forces VPN to connect through IPX.....undesirable.

I thought Windows XP doesn't even come with IPX by default.
