UJI, Kyoto -- Eleven junior high school students suffered hyperventilation and were rushed to hospital after talking about ghosts on a bus during a school trip Saturday afternoon, school officials said.

They are fully conscious and their conditions are not serious. Doctors said they suspect that the students suffered hyperventilation as a result of anxiety caused by the tales about ghosts.

At around 12:20 p.m., the Yakult Honsha Co. Kyoto factory in Uji made an emergency call to a local fire station saying some students on an inspection tour fell ill and asking for an ambulance.

Eleven of the 77 students from Sakai Municipal Mikunigaoka Junior High School who were visiting the factory were rushed to hospital in ambulances. The 77 were among 214 second-year students on a two-day school trip, and were to go back to the school later in the day. (Mainichi)

A SEX attack victim says she was sacked for pressing for police action against the offender.

The woman, who can't yet be named, collapsed in distress today after appealing for help to catch the man who tried to rape her.

Ambulances were called to the Victoria Police Centre in Flinders St.

She was treated at the scene but declined to go to hospital.

The car part manufacturer office worker today alleged her employer told her not to bother to come back when she asked for the day off to attend the police media conference calling for information about the assault.

She said she'd only had the job for a week.

"He (her boss) didn't want me to press ahead with charges," she said.

The dramatic scenes occurred after she told how an overweight man assaulted her at Kensington train station on Tuesday at 6.30am.

Police say the man approached her, grabbed her around the neck, and told her he was going to have sex with her.

She kneed him in the groin and broke free to run for help.

Police fear the man is responsible for three sexual assaults in the northern suburbs in the past month.

She described the man as about 40 years old with an olive complexion, large solid build, dark hair, bushy eyebrows and a greying moustache.

He was unshaven and wearing a dark blue T-shirt, blue jeans and beige or white runners with a blue stripe down the side.

The man spoke with a thick accent and smelt strongly of alcohol.
