Need a sit down racer
I've recently begun buying coin-op arcade games. They can be had for very little and most are interchangable internally as long as they adhere to an industry standard. You can use 1 cabinet to play any of thousands of games. Ive got a couple standard cabinets and now I'm getting into the specialty cabinets. Things like T2 where there are guns instead of joysticks.
I'm looking to get a sit down dual racer. I can get just about anything thats 5 years old or older. I dont want anything in 2D or driven by sprites. I really dont care for any of the Sanfrancisco Rush's or Cruisin USAs, just personal preference. I'm looking for very smooth scrolling, lush environments and lots of replay value. I dont think I want Daytona since I dont think there's a lot of replay value in circle track racing. My top two pics right now are Sega Super GT and Hydro Thunder. Sega Super GT is known as Scud Race outside of America. Its 4 cars and 4 tracks. Everything is very detailed and very realistic, to a point. It still has an arcade feel but isnt canned, car stuck on a rail like Cruisin USA. Its nowhere near as realistic as something like F355 Challenge. The upsides are great graphics and force feedback. The downsides are 4 cars and 4 tracks. ![]() ![]() ![]() I bid on one that had been sitting unused in a storage space. The guy wanted some rediculous amount of money and I made a more reasonable offer. I dont know if hes going to take it or not but theres no way I'm paying what he asking. I can get another thats about 2 hours away delivered to my house for less than what I bid for the first one. Its just a deal to break down the two machines since that guy will have to replace it at the restraunt. The other one is Hydro Thunder. It was released on everything from N64 to Dreamcast so finding good screen caps on the web of the arcade version is difficult. Id say that both Hydrothunder and SSGT play at 1024x768 or better in the arcade. Its a super smooth boat racer with about 9 different boats and at least as many courses. The upsides are lots of boats and lots of tracks but I dont know if boat racing will get old fast. Probably not but its still a concern. ![]() ![]() ![]() What suggestions can the [M] come up with given my requirements?

Logitech Force feedback wheel + Performance seat from a car at the junk yard + Ps2 and GT4 is all you need. There are other PS2 games less realistic if thats what you want but still support the wheel. It will save you a lot of money as well.
Edit: I was under the impression that this was your first one you were buying, but what I said still stands ![]() Last edited by Intuitiv; 06-28-2007 at 09:37 PM.. Reason: RTMFT |

Outrun 2, its probably my favorite sit-down of all time
![]() also F-Zero AC if you have the money to burn on the motion cabinet ![]() edit: read the 5 year rule, uh, try and get Wangan Midnight, its import but should be easy to find, seeing as my Wunderland arcade has 95% import machines..

If I were to get a new game I'd get the Mario Kart sit down. That fucker is tight. The motion cabinets are problems unless you have them in a high traffic area. Not worth the hassle for home. Got pics of outrun 2 or Wangan Midnight? Ill think about it but I dont remember having fun playing it. Only played it once and got tired of spending the cash on the little save cards. Can it be played without the cards?

Mario Kart GP was going to be my suggestion. Mario Kart on consoles is fun. Mario Kart on an arcade machine is orgasmic.

That shit was fucking hot. Did it take the pic of your face and apply it to your racer? That was fucking hilarious. Quote:

The graphics and control on the arcade were better than all the console versions. The closest I've seen to the arcade was the GC version of it on the Midway race classics game.
