Target - Black Friday - How early to get the good stuff?

i normally do all my christmas shopping online
but my mom is going through chemo at the moment
and she asked me to take care of her christmas shopping this year

she saw the 32" westinghouse tv in the target black friday ad
and thinks it would be a great gift for her fiance as a garage tv

i've never done black friday shopping before
anyone else with experience care to wager a guess
as to how early i'd need to show up before the 5am opening
to have a good chance at snagging the tv deal?

like 2 am

also check the reviews on that westing house before you buy. my mom bought a westing house about two years ago and it freezes up occassionally and needs a hard reboot.

Aren't you in Minnesota? I just drove by the Minnetonka/Ridgedale area and there were already lines (tents) at 6pm.

Might be safe if you go to the DT Minneapolis one. I can almost promise you that no one is going to set up a tent in the middle of downtown. I'm only a few blocks from there too

really depends on how the store is layed out and what other people are going for. I was able to snag a monitor 2 years ago from target for cheap even though i arrived 300th or so in line, just because it was off the beaten path and i knew right where i was headed. There was a couple in the isle already looking for it but i snagged it before they figured out what it was.

TVs are going to be popular and will have many more people in the area. That is of course unless they are handing out coupons like best buy etc

I bought a Westinghouse LCD from Bestbuy.

Within a year all it would show is green as in all blacks were now green so everything was a shade of green.

So I can say with great certainty that Westinghouse blows. I got my money back and bought a Panasonic instead.

Now I got a Olevia(sp) LCD's for my in-laws almost 3years ago from a black Friday special at Circuit City and it still works great.

I got the 22" Westinghouse monitor from Best Buy's black friday a couple years ago.

It still works, but it's to the point that I never turn it off - to turn it back on it takes about a hour of messing with it. Even then, it's hit and miss.
