OS X Lion upgrade

I have a MacBook from 2008, will it slow down my system a lot if I upgrade to OS X Lion?

if my C2D based laptop from 2006 can handle Windows 7, I'd be most disappointed if a 2008 macbook can't handle OSX Lion. In fact, it would be lolworthy and a good argument to make the machipsters go and eat a cup of STFU about their fucking macs if your macbook cant

I have one, its just fine. I have noticed little performance difference... however, I am not using my Mac full time these days like I did when I got it to be 100% certain.
I dont know what you're on right now, OS wise, but there really is not much difference other than bragging rights, and the appstore... (IMHO) I would go for it though.

It will be fine. My wife has the same unit and I see no difference between Lion and Snow Leopard.

I have a mid 2011 uniMBP and an early 2008 MBP.

Upgrading to Lion on the 2008 worked fine and there was no apparent slowdown. I think I even regained about 4GB of space. Only setback is the way dashboard works is different, if you were used to how it was before.

I'm running Lion on my late 06 MBP with no noticeable slowdowns from SL. If my MBP can handle it, your 08 MBP can handle it with ease. You can always throw a SSD in there to wake it up as well. Best upgrade I've done to my MBP so far.
