Working on an interesting one at work. (Supercharged M5 content)

Thought you guys might like this since you all cream your pants over BMWs.. we're fixing some dents and chips on the roof, hood, decklid, and peeling clear on the mirrors. Apparently the owner is selling it and promised the work done before it went to the new owner. Enjoy! Not a horrible car, it has its blemishes being 15 years old, probably pretty quick I can imagine.

it needs far more than that, the whole thing needs repainted, its full of scratches and chips, we're just fixing the "big" things.

All you BMW nerds, can you explain how you knew it wasn't an M? I guess the lack of M engine covers, but what else?

well the obvious one was the m5 of that generation was a straight six.

the v8 engine bay shot gives it away realy obviously

the side molding doesn't match - doesn't have the m5 side skirts/rear bumper/front bumper

I believe it also has a different steering wheel and I doubt he matched the gauge cluster as well to the M one.

it's easily a lot faster then the M5 of that gen though - at least in a straight line, ~425 horsies vs ~340 of the M5 with a really peaky powerband - that v8 would have a flat torque curve and sound nice

Hmm. Pretty big DOH! with regards to the straight six. I knew that.

Kids I went to HS with had a M5 of that gen, was much uglier than that car. Their dad (some intel big shot) has every M5 made. Had the first E60 M5 i ever saw in person.
Shame they were assholes.

That is a 94/95 540i/6 probably, you can tell by the larger front kidneys and different hood, which US M5's didn't have.

If it was an M5 it would have this.

The supercharged, 5 series is cool but looks rather well used. I would take an actual m5 over it though. un-supercharged.
