PS3 is set to 1080p -- My TV only goes up to 720p -- Black screen

My cousins let me borrow their PS3 and it's setup to 1080p for their TV. When I plug it into mine it displays a black screen. They said that this always happens when they plug it into 720p tvs and the only way to do it is to manually change it back. However, with a black screen it's almost impossible.

Since they are gone and won't be back until Sunday, I'm wondering if you guys can walk me through how to change it with out me actually being able to see the picture.

Something along the lines of.... right once, down 4 times, X, X, up 4, blah blah.... I'd REALLY appreciate it!

Hold down the power button, it will reset to default settings... something like 10 seconds.

More specifically:

1) Turn off power with switch on back
[2) Plug in with RCA cables] Apparently optional.
3) Hold finger on Front power button
4) Turn on with back switch
5) Keep finger on front button until after a second beep (this is the video output reset)

Then you can go into the video settings menu and change it to hdmi/720p.

I don't think the RCA cables matter unless you want to use them.

I had to reset mine and I have no idea where my RCA cables are.

Oh, i guess it probably just checks all the video connections then. I only I say that because I've only ever had to use the feature when moving to an older hdmi-less set.

while it's shut down all you gotta do is hold down the power button on the front until you hear a second beep

let go and it'll let you reconfigure your video and audio settings

I recently fucked up some settings on my PS2 and had to look up directions online on how to change it back blindly. It was like inputting a cheat code........Down Down Left X Down Left X........

Make sure when you return it to your cousins you let them think you fucked it up and broke it. They'll probably have the same problem.
