OMFG SERIOS ANSWER SO I NO GET B7: Ever hear of the concept "road-holding weight" they bandied about in the days of yore when the greatest boats in the world were built? Same thought can be applied here, tho I can't see the extra weight being significant enough to create an advantage. Either the otehr driver was a , or you had that hidden JATO pack lit up and yer not telling us about it.

more seriosli: what horsepower/weight ratios are we talking about? Or, more importantly, TORQUE/weight ratios?

KE= 1/2 m* v(dot)v

Its supposed to be a dot product of the velocity components. Yeah, I made a type-o before

And as far as newton being > me, yeah he is. Fortunately, I'm still > whoever made that comment because newton's second law defines a force to be equal to the differential change in momentum per unit time as described by the calculus of mathematics, which Newton also developed. So technically, its F = d(m * v) / dt.

no fucking shit the is strong in this thread F=MA
the only thing constant in this formula is acceleration, both objects will accelerate at the same rate because the extra mass is countered by a proportional amount of force

Incredibly nonsensical. Do you even know what we're talking about?

Out of a mazda5 and a fucking bonneville which one exactly is the hollow fabric ball?

WTF are you talking about?

Is the vehicle burning fuel?

Do tires stay the same shape as speed increases?

Does the rotational inertia of various components in the vehicle remain constant as speed increases?

What about friction constants in bearings?

Due to the shape of the vehicle it will have a terminal velocity (due to wind resistance) for a given power propelling it forward. Two vehicles, with the same shape, with the same force (engine horsepower) propelling them downhill will go at different speeds due to weight difference. The heavier vehicle will go faster due to to more force being exerted downward in addition to the engine's horsepower. The extra force comes in the x direction component based off the vehicles weight. In a perfectly level race they would go the same speed. (This assumes the extra weight has near negligible effects on vehicle bearings / axels)

ha! but that doesn't take time dilation into account does it?

because that's really important to think about when racing ancient pontiacs
