Need a winning chili recipe

Hello friends and family.

I hate sports (hate is too strong a word).

Tomorrow is a chili cook-off with my girlfriends family, and I need a recipe. I was thinking something with bacon maybe? My goal here is to win, but it's not the end of the world really so a "fun" recipe would also be cool.

I was thinkng about just making a fairly generic chili recipe, but pureeing some bacon and adding that.

Or cooking the beef with pureed bacon.

Really though, anything goes. Preferably something without any SUPER expensive ingredients (no truffle butter )

Thanks in advance for any sweet ideas.

I'm actually making it right now since I'm snowed in, and it smells amaaaaazing.

Ceejamon's Beer-Bacon-Chocolate Chili

5 thick slices of bacon, chopped up
1lb ground sirloin
1 large onion, chopped
3 medium jalapeno peppers, seeded and veins removed, minced
1 green bell pepper, chopped
4 cloves of garlic, minced

1 tbl dried oregano
2 tbl of ancho chili powder***
1 tbl chipotle chili powder***
0.5 tsp cayenne pepper***
1.5 tbl smoked paprika
1.5 tsp ground cumin

1 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
2 15 oz cans of black beans (not drained)
3 tbl cup Worcestershire Sauce
.5 cup dark beer

Salt & pepper to taste
1 whole cinnamon stick (optional) (sounds odd, but trust me)
1 handful of dark chocolate chunks/chips (optional) (sounds even odder, but trust me)

garnishes = sour cream, shredded cheese, crackers, or whatever else you like

Cook the bacon in your chili pot over medium-high about 4-5 minutes until browned. Drop heat to medium. Add your onion, bell pepper, and jalapeno. Sautee in the drippings until translucent. Add garlic and sautee another minute. Add beef and cook for about 7 minutes or until it looks pretty well cooked. Add spices, tomatoes, beans, Worcestershire, beer, a heavy pinch of salt, and lots of pepper. Toss in the cinnamon stick. Simmer covered for 60-90 minutes stirring occasionally. Adjust seasonings as needed. Stir in chocolate and fish out the cinnamon stick just before serving. Eat it and thank me later.

*** These are rounded down a bit since I like it spicy. Adjust as you see fit.

All I can contribute is that I agree with ceejamon; my stud muffin's mom uses some cinnamon in her chili and it rules.

Yup, sorry. My recipe is for a giant batch and my downsizing resulted in a typo.
