Blackberry BES and own email - Can they coexist?

So, we have a new salesgirl in our office who has her own blackberry. Boss wants her on our BES, but she wants to make sure that her personal e-mail is nice and safe on it. Since I am not a big BlackBerry expert, anyone can chime in on this?

Blackberrys can support up to 10 mail accounts through BES servers or 3rd party. By nice and safe I assume you mean the account doesn't get blown away when you do an enterprise activation?

why wouldn't they just get her an office blackberry?
having employees combine their personal phones with the business line is just unprofessional

For e-mail? Seriously?

That's like saying using webmail on my home PC is unprofessional.

As long as she isn't on another BES, her email will be fine. But her personal emails will be mixed in with the BES emails. There is a patch you can apply to the BES to create separate email icons for Desktop (BES) and personal emails though.

A BES activation is not a "business line."

Thanks for the info, gonna get the license. It's not really BES, it's BPS, since we only have 3 blackberries in the company.

Yeah. I'd just like to add that other mail accounts are generally managed through BIS (carrier/RIM provided). We had an issue at work where we'd wipe a phone and the old user's personal mail would still come back. Retarded design. Plus I misspoke. If you are doing an activation for an enterprise (or in your case, pro) you can only have 1 account of that type. I'm pretty sure BPS still has to pull info from service books on the device.

If your e-mail is hosted then you may be able to get a hosted BES account for cheap.

You can have one Enterprise account and a bunch of POP3/IMAP accounts.

All messages will appear in the Messages folder by default but each POP3/IMAP account will have it's own icon to filter messages to/from that account.
