It's a good read. And it's nice that you're doing this. But you're taking a risk by offering this openly on the board. Copyright infringement is serious business and the right people can make trouble for genmay if they knew this was happening.

Think of it like if someone offered up Lord Of the Rings on DVD for free here.

*sigh* I should take it down there. I'd rather stay somewhere near the legal side.

I'm not trying to be a jerk or even tell you what to do. But I just wanted to make sure folks were aware of what risk they are taking on.

I agree, if this is a risk. Lets remove all the links. Last thing I want is legal trouble for genmay and Sanjay.

I read this years ago. Most people laugh when an intercooler-less miata is suggested.

Too bad Bell just started offering a basic kit for 1800 bucks that runs at 6psi without an intercooler.

Turbo Miata Project

In the typical Typhoon fashion, I present a small incremental update to my turbo charging project.

For the last month or so I have been data logging and tuning, and just really learning the ins and outs of the megasquirt. Superb device I must admit, and pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it.

This is the megasquirt in its final installed location behind the passenger seat next to the factory ecu. I didn't cut any wires and my harness extension worked flawlessly. I ran the additional grounds, MAP, electronic boost control, air intake temp sensor, and wideband sensor signal lines through a grommet in the firewall down under the carpet through a plastic tube that the factory ecu wires go through to the ecu.

This picture is about 2 months old. I started tuning and driving with only the laptop and no gauges.

I was initially planning to mount my gauges on the steering column but after realizing just how much space they were going to take up in front of the gauge cluster I decided to go with the mickey mouse ear approach. I didnt want to go with the A Pillar pods because they really hinder the visibility. The way they are now they fall below the dash board and do not obstruct my view while still being easy to read when driving.

Left is an LC1 wideband AFR gauge, right is a Prosport electronic boost gauge.

This one is a month old.

Sorry I wasnt more timely with the update, just no time to post.
----------------------

Next steps:

The next step is to pull the fuel rail and convert it to a dual feed. Then I plan to drop in the 460CC injectors that I got from Spyder and tweak the naturally aspirated range of the fuel map.

After that, I will install the turbo.

As for parts. I have the turbo sitting on my desk, 460CC injectors, and an adapter to get the oil feed from the oil pressure sender. On its way - Log style manifold and matching downpipe. Still need to obtain - Intercooler + piping and hoses for oil and water.

Any guesses how much I have spent so far on everything up to this day?

At this point its exactly $1339. The jew inside me is pleased.

Im missing like 400 dollars worth of parts to have everything to install. Not bad considering a starter Begi S kit is 1800 with no fuel management.
Im leaving the clutch and exhaust for a later time after I get it all running.

Only if you bring enough pipe for the exhaust and intercooler with you.
