Content coming this Saturday: pulling the head, the timing cover, repainting the block, cleaning the SUs, and general hackery with taps to finish removal of the worthless anti-backfire valve.

A picture of the MSA bumper and valance installed - I'm not bothering with the flares at this juncture, but it's a good "where it's headed" kind of pic:

I've got to drop the hood off down at the body shop either tomorrow or Monday, and get up to the machine shop for my 300ZX's pistons (to get them to the ceramic shop for coating).

Dude, the flares look amazing on old Z's. Pretty easy mod too, unless you're molding them into the stock quarters.

No SR20 swap?

Flares: that red one above looks great, for instance. I don't see the point in them unless you really are doing some wide-ass wheels.

You going to do the clear over the front lights?

How do I put this... okay, 240Zs are probably my second or third favorite car to ever come out of Japan. I was sad at the last thread about this, and now...?

Maybe I should just leave it at "unf" and move on.

Oh, Weber / Mikunis instead of SUs? Just a thought and I'm biased.

My understanding is that he likes cars that are light and small. The skyrine is/was neither of those, with the possible exception of the KPGC-10.

Well, to continue the derail, my problem with the Skyline is more that I want to drive the fucking car, not point it in some direction and let the computers figure out how to get me there. For the record, top three road cars from Japan in my mind are the 240Z, FB, and FD - the order varies from day to day.

ah that car is the kid from Virginia's? This dude is pretty fucking talented since built everything on that car himself. He swapped out the turbo L28 for a VQ35DE that he plans to turbocharge down the road(he said it was not as fast was the L28ET)

Yeah, that's Austin's hybrid. I've always loved the way it looked.

Motor's torn down as far as I want to take it.

Head off:

Yowsa, the head gasket might be a *little* blown:

Bottom end, after pulling the timing cover:

Front, after pulling the timing cover:

Timing cover, just needs a little cleaning:

Degreased, first coat of paint:

After a little lovin' with a scotchbrite pad (it's going to be covered in header tape, so I figure it's best to get it down to bare metal to begin with):

The head was pristine looking - valve seats look freshly lapped (which makes sense, the head had brass guides put in only about 30k miles ago, and it had a valve job then):
