Bush Administration spoils intelligence link into Al-Qaeda

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5g...KCyPwD8S5TRAG1

Quote:
NEW YORK (AP) — The director of a group that monitors Islamic militant Web sites said the government leaked an Osama bin Laden video that was passed along to senior U.S. officials on condition that they keep it secret. She claimed the leak rendered certain intelligence-gathering capabilities ineffective.

The White House said it was not responsible for the leak, and a senior official said the director of national intelligence should investigate the allegation.
Thanks guys! Really looking out for our country, aren't we?

Gotta love how they pass the buck, too:

Quote:
White House press secretary Dana Perino said the White House was not responsible for the leak and was "concerned about it."

"When the White House refers information from an individual or a company, we refer that appropriately to the intelligence community. That's what happened here," she said.
"Appropriately to the intelligence community," you say?

Quote:
Once aware of the leak, Katz checked the logs on her Web site to see who had accessed the video.

"Dozens of government IP (Internet provider) addresses were downloading the video. Pentagon IP addresses, CIA IP addresses, FEMA IP addresses," she said, leading her to believe that her transcript and the link to the video have been widely distributed to government agencies. FEMA is the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
I'm sure spreading the link to FEMA is part of the whole proper procedure for intelligence investigations.

So the Bush administration says they are not responsible for the leak, there doesn't seem to be anyone claiming the contrary, and they are talking up an investigation into the leak...and this thread says they did it?

What did I miss here?

From the original article:
Quote:
Ross Feinstein, spokesman for National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell, said his office had not yet opened an official investigation, but was looking into the matter.

Listen, I'm as fed up with these guys as anyone, but a 501(c)(3) e-paparazzo skimming the forums at binladen.com hasn't lost any vital national security assets because a White House counsel -- my #1 address for bleeding-edge terror tips, by the way -- said "try homeland security, you twitty bitch." She's mad because the media cut somebody else a paycheck -- she wants the DMCA, not the CIA.

I'm open to the possibility there's something that deserves to be classified in the transcript, but hosting a file without giving the entire planet access ain't brain surgery, sweetheart. Sorry your exclusive got scooped, kudos for dreaming up this tax racket, and best of luck with more free advertising from AP.

agreed.

monitors islamic military websites? oh, what complicated work that no one else could possibly do, least of all people who are paid to sit in some broom closet in the pentagon and do just that all day long.

suggestion: get a real job and stop trying to pretend to be important and sleaze your way into a government grant, you crazy bitch.

edit: hey, look at me, i'm important too, because i managed to pull this off...
