How many suits should a man own?

I currently have one suit that I bought for a wedding and my college graduation not too long ago. However, if I get this job on Tuesday, I'm going to have to wear a suit every day. So, how many suits should a man own? Do you only need a couple main suits and an assortment of dress shirts/ties, or should you get as many suits as you can afford?

It's a job with New York Life, so insurance/retirement planning basically. You have to wear a suit daily.

Until you pull the big bucks... mixing up the ties/dress shirts will be fine on a few main suits. I would say 3 suits would be fine.

I personally wouldn't buy more than 3-4 suits, but have a good assortment of shirts and ties to mix it up (8-10)

Check out ValueCity for dress shirts and ties, you'll save a fuck ton of money, and the stuff is still pretty nice.

Every man needs to own one suit. If you make more money, obviously you can - and should - own more. It's fine to wear the same suit twice per week, but not really more than that. Also, men with small penii need to compensate by owning more suits.

THUS -- The number of suits a man owns varies according to his salary, number of days in a week he needs to wear a suit, and how large his penis is as demonstrated by the following formula:

1+(Salary-40000/10000)+(0.5Days)+(5-Penis) *
* = minimum of 1 suit regarless of dick size. Use standard rounding.

Therefore, a man who makes $50000, needs a suit 2 days a week on average, and has a 7-inch wang only needs to own 1 suit. However, the same man with a 5 inch penis would need to own 3. There may be a cap to the number of suits a man should own, but I'm broke and have a big dick, so I wouldn't know the details.

Be aware that the more suits you have, the less frequently you have to go to the drycleaners, which is a definite plus, and they will also wear out slower.

Cheap suits don't tend to last very long at all if you are wearing them weekly.

Also, don't buy black suits. I would suggest at least three and more likely four is a good number to start out with..

Why wouldn't you want to own a black suit?

I think the most important things to keep into consideration when buying a suit are serviceability, fit, and price (though not so much.) A useful rule of thumb I have been using is plain > unique.

With a suit that has some subtle colours to it (yet is not too plain), you can cycle your collection without much notice. Changing ties and shirts is what seems more important to me -- suits are always monotone and rarely noticed.

why would you want two black suits? of all colors, that's what you'll be wearing the least of.

if you're wearing suits every day, you'll NEED at least five. but i agree with the other guy who said shirts and ties should be a priority before going out and buying more suits.

i dont normally agree with fout on clothing advice
but he's hit the nail on the head here
black suits really aren't too hot for business
substitute a brown one for one of the blacks, imo
