Is there any way to track a stolen PS3?

So, my PS3 was stolen out of my apartment and I was just wondering if there's a way to track it via your login info. I know it's not likely... but it's just a shot in the dark.

I'm pretty sure LoJack isn't a standard feature in PS3s. Also, if the thief is smart, they'll erase all your shit and start over. Or maybe not... maybe they'll just buy a shitton of Playstation Store stuff with your stored CC info.

You just haven't had alot of luck lately, first your bike and now your PS3?

If you still have the serial number for the PS3, you can report it stolen to Sony and the police. If the PS3 goes online, Sony logs it and can get a location of the user by their logged IP address, which can then be given to the police. At that point, they would have to contact the internet provider to get a location and account info. Sony can also block the account so any financial info you might have on there cannot be accessed.

Honestly, it is a long shot.

Worst part is this time it's somebody I know like a friend who came over or my roommate. There was no break-in and the PS3 cables were neatly pulled out. The PS2 and Wii were put closer together to make it look like nothing was missing.

Also if you think they stole it just to sell it, "Assuming you have the serial number or something unique to it" You could check local trade in stores and see if it was recently sold there because dont places usually make you leave your name and what not if you sell stuff to them?

If you were on PSN, you could report your name to Sony?

Also, as mentioned, check local game stores if you have the serial number.

I don't think they'll get the crime lab going for a PS3.

people always say you can report and get an ip trace but that is really not going to ever happen. your best bet is to call the police and give them your serial number if you have it.

It's really not that important. I had a good talk with the roommate and believe he didn't steal it. That just means I need to contact the apartment building and tell them I don't want anyone to enter my apartment ever.
