Is there a way to watch netflix on my TV?

I know I can connect the PC to the TV, but is there some sort of device to make this less complicated in general? (Doing that is not complicated, but I need a PC and cables and settings, just not very "turn on and watch")

I thought I read somewhere that something like this was coming out?

I just wanna be able to login to netflix and watch the watch it now. Figure it would be easy enough to make some sort of device with lan connection and be able to watch it on the tv.

Well there are services like apple tv, sony soon will have one, microsoft has some assemblance of one. If you want to get internet directly into your tv some tv's are coming with internet jacks but it's not like the tv will have an OS, it would have to have netflix built in somehow. Dont think it's possible at this point in time without a computer.

There was some info at AVSforum about netflix and microsoft teaming up for the 360. I dont know how many movies I would watch online from netflix even if it was on my TV through the 360. The quality is pretty poor, and the selection isnt very good either.

well the quality perhaps isnt HD, but its damn near perfect or better than you would really need. The people at AVS forums always critique everything; but thats ok because they are fanatics and thats their thing, but for the average joe and im sure this covers about 90% of the population, it is more than enough.

Yes the selection is slacking, but they keep adding new content all the time. The program itself isnt good in that it doesnt offer surround sound settings, subtitles, etc, but its just a matter of time. In the meantime as I said, its pretty good and beats waiting in the mail for the next movie if you're at a 1 at a time plan.

My roommate just today signed up for netflix. I had no idea they did streaming instant access. We watched some law and order in very nice quality (read better then usa/tnt sd) going out of his laptop through a s-video cable to the tv.

If you want plug-and-play where a black box takes care of it all then I don't know where you could turn. I am however planning on setting my mom up with a mac mini or build a micro-atx pc or something and canceling the movie packages she gets with directv.

good luck.

It changed quality based on your connections speed. There are 3 different ones I believe. I will agree with you that anything other than "Excellent" mode sucks badly. But if you have the broadband for the excellent mode, its very very very good quality considering its a stream.

The MCE plugin is nice, I have it on my media center PC. Overall the quality was pretty good.

When I did it, it was nearly DVD quality. Not even noticeable without a direct comparison.

There are software packages that are as good or better than Windows MCE. I use MediaPortal, it's free and it recognizes the MCE remote natively. MediaPortal is free and customizable. If your TV has an HDMI port, I recommend that, otherwise you could do S-video.
