Dell Latitude D620 vs D630

Do you guys happen to know what are the major difference between them two? If i swap out a motherboard from 630 to 620, will it be compatible with few driver upgrades?

Is the fit similar?

Basically i can order a 630 mobo, but not 620 cause the contract we have, the 620 is not supported so i cant order it, but 630 i can...

Should be fine, I have not taken my 620/30's apart but they seem identical.

Usually they are identical but it's not always the case (ex. D600 used DDR1, D610 used DDR2)

We have a decent selection of 620's and 630's in the field. AFAIK they are nearly the same, Holes should line up, but video could be different depending on spec, diff cpu support, etc. I dont recall the exact specs, so you may wish to research a little bit on that part.

As far as I know, the D630 adds Santa Rosa support from Intel. Drivers may be different (slightly, if that)...

one has firewire the other doesnt... if that matters.

Okay, this was such a pain in the ass.

First, i had to cut out a bigger hole in the chasis to replace the infrared with Firewire
Second, the proc. is has a differnt pin config
Third, i had to cut off some plastic pieces so everything fits properly in the lapto

Fourth. The frankenstein is finished and working 100% yay

thats why you replace with same parts from ebay

i ran into some problem with trying that before, not worth giving a client backsomething thats not like from factory.
