better to workout before night of drinking or the day after?

is it common for people to go to the gym before going out to drink? what is the purpose?

or is it better to workout the day after? or both?

i'm meeting some buddies at a bar (lololol stfu) and about half of them said they need to get a workout in between work and the bar.

what is better? obviously not drinking at all, but which is better? thx/

My guess is the "need to get a workout in" is not because its necessarily better or worse to do it before or after drinking but because they don't want to break their gym routine.

In college I could get wasted and be up early the next morning and ready for the gym. Now (lol 23) I feel like shit the next morning and would much rather go before drinking or much later the next day.

i don't know which is better for you physically, but a hard workout is a hangover cure for me.

Why is it so strange to you that people feel compelled to work out for no other reason besides "just to work out"? Working out is good and better than not working out.

If you're working out properly the different outcomes in this situation should be completely unnoticeable.

Probably after drinking, hopefully your testosterone levels will be climbing and making your workout worth something.

There have been studies that show that protein absorption is impeded for like 48 hours after consuming alcohol. They may be trying to let their PWO get to work before boozin.

Drinking lowers your test levels.

I would assume they do it for the pump. They probably go in and hit the upper body enough to achieve a good pump and then head out and let the ladies gaze upon their wares.

Either or for me - I don't know about the rest of you, but I tend to be pretty active when I drink to excess a lot of times. I mean, a lot more than just sitting on the couch watching TV. So I don't feel obligated after drinking a bunch of calories to burn it off either way.

Yes I understand, but if you work out and then start drinking your testosterone levels will plummet making the workout useless. I figure he wont drink and then work out rigtht after, but work out the next day when testosterone levels are recovering.

Either way I think working out anywhere around drinking is a waste.

Workout whenever you're normally scheduled to work out.

Just make sure you drink tons of water prior to the workout if it's after drinking.

We used to work out early Friday mornings, after going out Thursday night. Going for a run when still drunk/hung over really sucks, but you sweat out or puke up all the booze from the night before and end up feeling much better when you're done.

It's just easier to work out when you're not hungover, plus people say that they become drunk faster when they hydrate with alcohol, which is sort of awful, but I guess it saves you some money if you're looking to ~party~

I can't do shit when my head is pounding and I'm still puking.
