Frayed Laptop Battery Charger Wire, fixable?

So after using my charger for 4 years, the wire that connects into the charger has gotten frayed in the sense that the plastic has lost its integrity in that area and opened up and I see the silver wires. The battery cannot charge my laptop anymore, is there any way to fix this or should I just buy a new charger?

Are you handy with a soldering iron? If so, you could fix this yourself. However the fix may not last depending on how strong the area is that needs to be fixed.

Easiest solution would be to buy a new charger that's guaranteed to work.
