What are the front-runner guns for each spec now? Haven't been following as closely as I should have been.

Also yay @ an effective cheaterscope nerf. Playing at a major disadvantage until 100 kills sucked.

I thought the M240B was the weapon of choice for support? Did it get nerfed?

For those of you playing this on PC:

1) What size monitor do you have?
2) What graphics card?
3) What settings can you handle with said monitor/gpu
4) Did you use the graphics settings recommended on the [H] thread for the game?

Going to build a gaming PC soon and I'm trying to make some decisions. I have a Samsung 940B monitor right now, which is 19", but I'm think about going up to a 24" and right now I'm planning on a GeForce GTX 570HD, but that is subject to change too. Hopefully I can game with you guys pretty soon

I have everything on Low with 2x anti aliasing, mainly for the gain in FPS, some maps are pretty killer. I can easily play at high at about 40-50fps but that's not enough for me. My cpu is dated, game would run alot better with a newer overclocked intel and faster ram.

single 6970 (rest of specs in sig), 1920x1080

I haven't seen that [h] thread, i'll check it out.

edit: i can't find the post about graphics settings you speak of

The physical size of the screen has no bearing on the performance of the game. The resolution is what counts. 1920x1200 is the sweet spot for PC gamers right now it seems. Aiming for 2560x1600 in BF3 with Ultra settings isn't within the realm of most mortals.

In any case, here's a writeup on building systems at different tiers, specifically for BF3 and using the current crop of nVidia gfx cards:

-e- Tom's has some ATi benchmarks if you can't stand nVidia's superior price to performance ratio:

The Dell UltraSharp U2410 is 1920x1200 and the GTX 570 HD I was looking at will average 60fps on that resolution according to the [H] write-up I posted above. I'm thinking about upgrading to the U2410 since I'm on a Samsung 940B right now which is a 19" with a 1280x1024 max resolution.

Quote:
Both the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 and the AMD Radeon HD 6950 were able to handle 1920x1200 with FXAA high, 16X AF and Ultra in game settings, with Motion Blur disabled and Ambient Occlusion set to SSAO. With an average FPS of 60.7 the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 was 1.8 average FPS or 3% faster than the AMD Radeon HD 6950 which averaged 58.9 FPS. When turning Ambient Occlusion to HBAO, performance on both video cards dropped by roughly 10 average FPS.

The AMD Radeon HD 6950 experienced the same sharp lag during explosions and buildings being demolished and while debris was flying around as the other AMD based GPUs. Neither card was able to handle Motion Blur at these settings.

Thanks for those links. I skimmed the nVidia article and was a little surprised that they didn't do an i7 build for any of them.

all the Karkand maps are Conquest Assault instead of regular Conquest which I don't like, it ruins that game mode for me.

No, Conquest Assault is where one team starts off holding all of the flags, but does not have a permanent main flag. Attackers are free to cap in any order and can end the round immediately if they hold all of the flags and kill any remaining defenders. Definitely one of my favorite modes - I take my squad and flank to the farthest flag, working back towards the "front lines."
